Episode 4: The Hunt Begins.
Dimple and Vikram stared at each other for a long time. Sunder and Goldie were watching the television in the living room. Sunder’s usual, switching random channels annoyed Dimple. Still, she resisted the urge to say something. She wanted Vikram to be the one to speak. But she got no response.
At last, Dimple’s patience ended as well as the silence of the room. “Fine. Don’t tell me. But I am your only hope around here for finding Basu,” She said to Vikram.
“And Why is that?” Vikram asked with a solemn face.
“Because…because. Uhh because you know nothing about this place, even this world. And not everyone will understand what I saw today.” Dimple was enthusiastic with her answer. In addition to that, Vikram looked convinced. Still, Dimple added, “Listen, if you ever find it difficult to trust me. Then I won’t bother you anymore and we can go on our separate ways. Deal?” Again Vikram was silent. “Please! I just wanna help you. Just like you helped us.”
Therefore, Vikram was convinced. They shook on it and Dimple grinned wide. Vikram added his own smile to the occasion and told her everything that had transpired on Kala’s domain.
“But how did you end up there in first place?” She asked.
Vikram looked up and again lowered his gaze. He said, “I was hunting for someone.”
“Who?”
“A threat bigger than Kala,” He looked in her eyes and Dimple’s eyes widened with realization.
Vikram continued, “I am from a different time. Due to this person’s actions, a temporal rift was created. I tried to fix that but I could only do it by capturing them. Because only he could do it. As a result of the scuffle I got lost in the spacetime continuum. Traveling from one reality to another I got captured by Kala. She wanted to learn how to cross realities. But Basu helped me escape from there. And now Basu herself is lost.”
Dimple felt sad for a moment but then she asked, “One more question. These portals you open to travel through the multiverse, do they close on their own?”
This time Vikram’s face faded with realization. “Oh god! I didn’t think about that.”
Just then, the TV set showed a news clipping, “A gruesome murder near the railway track. The police are investigating this heinous crime. However, they can’t link it to any motive as the dead body still possess all the belongings. Yet, how the face have been disfigured hints a revenge plot…”
Vikram saw something on the screen and stood up. He pointed to the screen. There was a symbol in the wound. “It’s a message,” he said.
“Message? For whom?” Dimple looked into his eyes.
“For me.” Vikram looked into her eyes and added, “She’s here!”
